2021 FALL: Appeared in two games… Did not record any stats.
2021 SPRING: Made lone appearance in home opener with Cal Poly (3/20), responding with 2-for-26 receiving in game’s final series... Hauled in 20-yarder from Gunnor Faulk to start that drive, then finished the game with another 6-yarder from Faulk.
2019: Played in three games as a reserve receiver... Posted one reception, a 5-yarder early in 4th quarter vs. Lehigh (9/14).
2018: Redshirted.
TERRA LINDA HS '18: Led Terra Linda HS to a Marin County Athletic League title and North Coast Section playoff run throughout his three years with the program... Selected team captain by his teammates... Versatile skill set allowed him to play three positions: quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back... Earned MVP, Most Valuable Offensive Player, and three all-league awards... Named to the All-MCAL first team as a wide receiver and defensive back.
PERSONAL: The second of Amy and Robert Simkins’ three children... Austin is his older sibling, Savannah is the youngest member of the family... Simkins is another member of his family to play Division I football... His grandfather was an All-American at Cal and played for legendary coach Pappy Waldorf... His grandfather is one of “Pappy’s Boys,” who gather on a regular basis to honor their coach... Simkins’ grandmother’s cousin was the first African-American orthodontist in Georgia... His family is related to Michael Jordan by marriage: HIs third cousin, on his mom's side, is married to Michael Jordan's son... Proudest personal accomplishment is receiving an offer to play at one of the most prestigious universities in the nation; he always dreamed about playing Division I football at an incredible school, like UC Davis... Jevon Holland is the best athlete he competed against... Scored four touchdowns — two receiving and a pair of interception returns — in Terra Linda's 47-13 victory versus Drake... Coach Carter is his favorite movie... Antonio Brown is his sports hero... Non-sports hero is his dad... Plans to pursue a career in coaching, or become a sports agent when he graduates from UC Davis... Favorite hobbies include snowboarding, road trips with his friends, and playing sports — any sport... Dr. Edward Deming, a great-great uncle on his mom's side, created the Deming Management Method, which is used in business management classes; he changed the automobile industry in Japan... Top three things on his bucket list are: Win a Big Sky Conference title, take an African safari and swim with dolphins... Chose UC Davis because of its coaching staff, the future and potential of the program.
