SAAC, or the Student Athlete Advisory committee, is an organization lead and organized by student-athletes for student-athletes. At UC Davis, we build our athletic community through supporting and connecting with each other both on and off the court, field, and arena. During our meetings, we share and discuss athletics on the campus, conference, and national level and provide that feedback to the athletics department. Our meetings and events often have activities that focus on building the athletic community, service, or professional development. We frequently have speakers from our community share important announcements and opportunities to student-athletes. NCAA Campus SAAC Functions:
- Promote communication between athletics administration and student-athletes
- Disseminate information
- Provide feedback and insight into athletics department issues
- Generate a student-athlete voice within the campus athletics department formulation of policies
- Build a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletics teams
- Solicit student-athlete responses to proposed conference and NCAA legislation
- Organize community service efforts
- Create a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide committees (e.g., student government)
- Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus
