DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis volleyball hits the road again for their second straight tournament at the Wisconsin Invitational from Thursday, Sept. 4, to Friday, Sept. 5. The Aggies open against host team Wisconsin on Thursday before facing off against Green Bay on Friday.

GAME NOTES
- Season Record: UC Davis enters the weekend 1-2 after a sweep of Sac State and losses to Pepperdine and UTEP last weekend at the Sacramento State Invitational.
- Power 4 Competition: Thursday's matchup against Big Ten opponent Wisconsin marks the Aggies' first Power 4 match of the season. Last year, the team's two Power 4 matches were also against Big Ten schools. At the Husky Invitational on Sept. 15, Davis lost in four sets to host school Washington. Four days later, in the University Credit Union Center, they knocked off UCLA for the first time in program history, winning in four sets.
- All-Tournament Honors: Coming off a preseason All-Big West nod, senior Jade Light was named to the Sacramento State Invitational All-Tournament team for her play in last weekend's matches. Through 11 sets played over three matches, she led the team with 52 kills, 35 digs, and two service aces.
- Quality Competition: Thursday's match marks the third straight that the Aggies will play against teams that participated in last year's NCAA Tournament. The Badgers finished 2024 in the NCAA Regional Final.
- 2024 Recap: UC Davis went 19-10 and finished third in the Big West.
- 2025 Poll: Aggies were picked third in the Big West preseason coaches' poll, receiving 75 points.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
- Wisconsin is 1-1 on the season after splitting its first two games at the annual Opening Spike Classic, beating #14 Kansas before losing to #5 Texas.
- The Badgers are currently ranked #8 in the country by the AVCA.
- The team was picked to finish third in the Big Ten Preseason Poll, with players Carter Booth, Mimi Colyer, and Charlie Fuerbringer selected on the Big Ten Volleyball Preseason All-Conference Team.
- Colyer and Fuerbringer were also named to the AVCA Player of the Year Watchlist after all-conference seasons in 2024.
- Thursday marks the first-ever matchup between the Aggies and the Badgers.
- Green Bay is 0-3 on the young season, losing in five in all three matches at the NC State Invitational last weekend.
- The team was picked third in the Horizon League preseason poll, receiving one first-place vote.
- This weekend's tournament will be the second of four the Phoenix will participate in to begin the year, playing in the South Dakota Invitational and Capital Credit Union Classic before opening league play.
- Friday will be the first time Davis and Green Bay have ever played each other.
SEASON NOTES
- 2025 marks the 12th season for UC Davis head coach Dan Conners.
- Conners' 2024 was one of historic significance, leading the Aggies to a career high 19 wins and a program best 13 conference wins. His 152 career wins tie him for second all-time in Aggie history with former coach Marlene Piper.
- The staff features two new assistants: Prima Glorioso, a former assistant at Menlo College and founder of Core Volleyball in Sacramento, serves as the team's director of operations, and Lana Radakovic, a former professional and collegiate player under Conners, coaches the team's middle blockers.
- The roster blends a strong returning core of players, including Chandler, Light, Allie Caldwell, Mia Starr, and Ximena Cordero Barr.
- In addition, the 2025 squad includes three new players for the Aggies. Maike Bertens Deckart, a former NJCAA national champion, joins the team for her graduate season after two seasons with the Manhattan Jaspers. Freshmen Laela Burgess and Faith Rabb-Patterson also come to the Aggies after successful high school careers.
- This is UC Davis' final season in the Big West before joining the Mountain West in 2026, and the goal remains to qualify for the Big West Tournament and play Aggie volleyball into December.
