DAVIS, Calif. — Already named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Pacific Regional Honorable Mention, UC Davis volleyball's
Jade Light has been announced as an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention on Wednesday morning.
Light becomes just the eighth Aggie in program history to earn All-American honors and the first since 1996, when Camille Gutierrez received the distinction.
The Sloughhouse, California native receives this honor off one of the most decorated seasons in program history, where she led the Big West in kills per set (3.99) while also leading the Aggies in total kills with 421 kills.
In addition to being named the Big West Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference, Light also received a number of weekly awards throughout the season, becoming the Big West Offensive Player of the Week three separate times. Against Cal Poly back in October, she elevated herself among the best in program history by becoming the 13th Aggie to collect over 1,000 kills in her career.
Since 1981, the AVCA has made it its mission to elevate the game of volleyball to new heights across all levels of competition. Each year, the organization recognizes 100 Division I student-athletes across four All-American teams—First Team, Second Team, Third Team, and Honorable Mention—placing Light among the nation's top performers this season.
