FRESNO, Calif. – After a long day in the valley for the Track and Field team, the Ags come away with multiple solo victories, personal bests, and brandishing two new names in the school recordbooks.
The Aggies throned themselves first in six events across both the men's and women's events, both claiming victory in two events.
Davis swept the Pole Vault, with
Sarah Graessley and
Aidan Hagerty both finding gold in the valley; Hagerty's performance elevating him into the Aggie recordbooks.
The Aggies also swept the 3,000 meter steeplechase on both sides, with
Madison Kackley and
Caden Hicks both finishing in first place. Kackley also added herself to the records today, taking the third seat.
The Ags also had 26 top-five finishes on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN):
Senior
Michael Cooper lassoed in first overall in the 1,500 meter run, logging a 3:53.51 in the event. Right behind him was
Jacob Lawrence, running a 3:54.16 to grab the silvery spot in the race.
The Aggie men took the top two spots in the steeplechase, running a perfect event. Adding to the gold, freshman
Caden Hicks topped the charts at the 3,000 meter steeplechase, clearing the event in a rapid 9:25.05 pace. In second was sophomore
Donavan Cheruiyot with a 9:27.52.
Freshman
Luke Wales scored fourth in the 400-meter dash, clearing the track with a speedy 49.03 second time. Senior
Harrison Hansen claimed fifth overall in the 400 meter hurdles, clocking in a 56.16 second finish.
Aidan Hagerty carved his name into the Davis Outdoor records with his first place finish in the Pole Vault. Clearing 5.16 meters of sky, he seats himself at sixth in Aggie history. In third was senior
Ryan Ishibashi, taking flight through 5.01 meters of air.
In the 800 meter run,
Christian Taylor and
Lucas Tam wrote their names into the top ten with sixth and seventh-place performances.
Over on the high jump,
Caveli Hensley was a solo act for the Davis team; jumping 1.88 meters and securing sixth for the Aggies.
Securing his second first place finish of the season, junior
Muhammed Ahmed clocked in a 14:26.47 to secure the prime spot in the 5,000 meter run.
In the curtain closing event of the day,
Nick Santos placed fifth overall in the triple jump, jumping an impressive 13.60 meters.
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN):
Senior Ashreet Kler landed in the top five in the Hammer Throw event that was contested on Friday, placing fifth with her throw that cleared 55.17 meters.
Senior Maddie Kackley's goldwinning performance writes herself third into the Aggie records for her work in the steeplechase, running a 10:22.14 in the event. Freshman
Jenna Calvert took bronze overall, and senior
Sydney Makar had a fourth place finish to make three Aggies complete the event in the top five.
Over on the field, junior
Kadidja Sangare placed second overall in the long jump with an impressive 5.94-meter flight, just .03 away from the number one spot.
Senior
Sarah Graessley shared the prime sport on the podium, vaulting a 3.92 meters. This is Graessley's second firs tplace win on the pole vault of the season.
Francesca Villain found herself at fifth with an impressive 3.47 meter flight.
Lauren Spellman and
Elizabeth Churchill hopped into a four-way tie for second place in the high jump competition, both clearing a 1.65 meter jump.
Clearing a full circle of hurdles, Domina Janik claims silver in the 400-meter hurdles in a quick 1:02.33. Just .05 seconds behind was junior
Ashleigh Christy, going a 1:02.38 in the event.
Stormy Wallace placed fourth overall in the 5,000 meter run, the top Aggie finisher with a time of 17:55.49. To round out eh top five, senior
Dani Barrett traveled the track at a 17:56.06 pace.
In the 4x400 meter relay, the bronze-scoring collective of
Cierra Kinsey, Frankie Castro,
Elle Middleton, and
Dominika Janik spun the track four times for a 3:50.95 final time.
Fueled by the power of her hometown,
Chinyere Egbuziem placed third overall in the shot put event, launching the weight 12.63 meters away.
UP NEXT: The Ags will be going separate ways from April 4-5, traveling to Berkeley for the Brutus Hamilton and to San Francisco for the Mike Fanelli.
