LONG BEACH, Calif. — The UC Davis track and field team concluded its postseason run on Saturday, May 16, wrapping up the final day of the Big West Track and Field Championships. Highlighting the final session for the Aggies, junior Atianna Marquez vaulted onto the podium with a third-place finish to headline a collection of strong performances on the weekend. Following the final events of the meet, the Aggie men finished in ninth place in the final team standings with 17 points, while the UC Davis women claimed 11th place with 25.5 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN)
Aidan Hagerty led the vertical jumps crew in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.99m to capture a fourth-place finish for the Aggies.
 
In the discus ring, Jake Joerger spearheaded a trio of top-10 finishes for the throwing unit, delivering a mark of 49.01m to lock down sixth place. Santiago Adan followed right behind in seventh, uncorking a new personal-record throw of 47.96m. Logan Brantley rounded out the group performance, throwing 47.29m to take ninth overall.
 
On the track, the 4x100m relay squad of Kathir Balakrishnan, Jacob Beals, Erik Erdiakoff, Luke Wales, RIley Leyva, and Zach Jones clocked a 41.14 to cross the line in sixth. Balakrishnan also doubled back individually for the final flight of the 400m hurdles, finishing ninth overall with a time of 55.37.
 
The performance capped the weekend for the Aggie men, who placed ninth overall at the Big West Championships with 17 total team points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN)
Atianna Marquez put together a standout performance in the pole vault, clearing a new personal-record height of 3.92m to claim the bronze medal and secure a spot on the Big West podium. The lifetime-best mark also moves Marquez into a tie for the No. 6 spot all-time in the UC Davis outdoor record books. The Aggies secured a multi-scorer event as Daisy Penney cleared 3.77m to place eighth, and Shae Wright cleared 3.77m to take 10th.
 
Maya Ifo-Desai kept the momentum going in the field, hitting a new personal-record mark of 47.64m in the discus to secure 10th place.
 
On the track, sophomore Maya Shinnick competed in the 400m championship final, dropping a 54.07 to finish fourth overall. Stormy Wallace led the distance unit in the 5000m final, clocking 17:12.60 to score a ninth-place finish. The 4x400m relay team of Ashleigh Christy, Anicia Garvin, Dominika Janik, Elle Middleton, and Shinnick concluded the weekend with a 10th-place finish in 3:47.52.
 
The performance capped the weekend for the Aggie women, who placed 11th overall at the Big West Championships with 25.5 total team points.
