DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis track & field will split the team for the second straight weekend, sending athletes to one of four competitive meets: Mike Fanelli Track Classic (previously named the SF State Distance Carnival), Stanford Invitational, UCLA Jim Bush Legends Invite, or the Titan Team Challenge.

Beginning Thursday, Mar. 28, the Mike Fanelli Track Classic will primarily feature the distance squad, along with a variety of other athletes, with many events scheduled late into the night. Due to damages at SF State's track, the meet will be hosted at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif. Action will begin for the Aggies with the men's 3000m steeplechase at 5:25 PM on Thursday, featuring sophomore Ryman Crone in the second heat. UC Davis will also participate in the men's 10,000m run, racing seniors Jordy Ceja and Bradley Needles in the third heat at 10:15 PM. Continuing with the distance portion of the meet on Friday, redshirt freshman Eva Goodisson makes her 2019 outdoor track debut in the women's 1500m, as well as junior Tatjana Kunz in the women's 5000m. Most of the field athletes for UC Davis will be in competition on Friday as well, competing in jumps, pole vault, and hammer. Kathleen Bufka and Max Molchanov are set to close the meet for the Aggies in Saturday morning's long jump.

As the lone Aggie competing at the prestigious Stanford Invite, junior Xolan Brown looks to solidify his NCAA regional qualifying mark in the men's 800m among a fast-paced field. The 800m will be run at 2:48pm, and features six athletes who have posted times in the top-31 of the NCAA outdoor list this season, including CSU Bakersfield's Curtis Threlkeld at No. 5 (No. 3 West Region), running 1:49.74. Other qualified athletes have competed in the indoor season with times ranked in the top-25 nationally in the indoor 800m, including New Mexico's Michael Wilson, who placed 12th at the NCAA Indoor Championships, and had a PR run of 1:48.27 at the 2018 Mountain West Indoor Championships.

Traveling south, the women's sprint squad is entered at the Titan Team Challenge on Mar. 30, competing against runners from host school and Big West foe Cal State Fullerton, along with Cal State Bakersfield, Cornell, Grand Canyon, and New Mexico. Joining the sprinters are throwers Greg Richardson, Michael Pertusati, Erika Contreras, and Marlene Gutierrez.

The men's sprint squad will see action at the UCLA Jim Bush Legends Invite, joined by senior multis Drake Foote and Kyle Clancy, along with pole vaulter sophomore Jered Española, and senior jumper Drew Xandrine-Anderson. Just four women will represent UC Davis at UCLA, including freshman sprint standout Kirsten Carter, and hurdlers Xjaedah Williams, Flora Oliveira, and Sadye Peschke. The Aggies look to improve on marks that are already closing in on the outdoor record books early in the outdoor season. Hurdler Anthony Easter will race in his first collegiate 400m dash, while Jonathan Perry is set to make his 2019 debut in the 110m hurdles.

Each meet will have live results available from its respective timing company, and updates will be posted on www.UCDavisAggies.com throughout the weekend.
