THE SHORT STORY: UC Davis rounded out the first two rounds of the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational at Silverado Resort on Monday, sitting in 10th place out of 14 teams. Lequan Wang powered the Aggies, finishing the day in second place with a blistering 9-under 135. Zhenxian Zhang, competing as an individual, also posted a strong opening day, concluding Monday in a tie for 10th.

FIRST TEE

• Lequan Wang wrapped up his 36 holes as the leading Aggie, carding an opening-round 68 (-4) and a 67 (-5) in the afternoon to finish in second place at 9-under par (135).
• Zhenxian Zhang, competing as an individual, provided another highlight for UC Davis, firing a 67 (-5) in the opening round and following it up with a 73 (+1) to jump into a tie for 10th place at 4-under par (140).
• Ivan Sablan closed out his day bringing his 36-hole total to 146 (+2) to secure a top-45 position, tying for 45th overall.
• Curtis Da Silva bounced back nicely in the afternoon wave, posting an even-par 72 to finish in a tie for 52nd place at 3-over par (147).
• Shaun Nair capped off Monday with an opening-round 71 (-1) and posted an 80 in round two, finishing in a tie for 66th at 7-over par (151).
• Treed Huang, competing as an individual, carded a pair of 76s (+4) to finish tied for 70th overall at 8-over par (152).
• Ryan Firpo rounded out the UC Davis starting lineup, posting back-to-back 78s (+6) to finish in a tie for 77th place at 12-over par (156).
