THE SHORT STORY: Lequan Wang fired a 3-under 68 to sit in a tie for second place individually, leading UC Davis in the opening round of The Prestige at PGA WEST. As a team, the Aggies carded a 295 (+11) to finish the day in 17th place in the 24-team field.

• Lequan Wang was the standout, carding a 68 (-3) to finish the day just two strokes off the individual lead held by Oregon State's Rylan Johnson (66).
• Ryan Firpo posted a 75 (+4) to sit in a tie for 74th.
• Curtis Da Silva and Zhenxian Zhang, who made his collegiate golf debut, both shot rounds of 76 (+5), placing them in a tie for 86th.
• Treed Huang rounded out the lineup with a 77 (+6).
• The Aggies are within striking distance of the middle of the pack, sitting just six shots back of the top 10 (Iowa State, 289).
