DAVIS, Calif. — Coming off a school-record performance and two second-place finishes at the Nevada Invitational, UC Davis senior
Maya Shinnick was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Indoor Track & Field Female Athlete of the Week.
Shinnick earned her award following a strong showing on the second day of competition at the Nevada Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 18. She recorded a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.35, marking an MPSF season-best performance and ranking 27th nationally.
She followed with another runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking an MPSF season-best time of 24.01. The performance broke her own UC Davis school record in the event, surpassing her previous mark of 24.08 set in 2025, and earned a ranking of 42nd in the NCAA.
The honor marks the first career MPSF weekly award for the senior.
UP NEXT: After a month off from competition, the Aggies will split squads to compete in two meets, with some returning to Reno for the Battleborn Classic, while others head to Seattle for the Husky Classic, both held Friday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 14.
