RENO, Nev. — UC Davis indoor track and field concluded a historic weekend at the Battleborn Classic and Husky Invite, punctuated by
Maya Shinnick resetting her own school record and
Kylee Davis claiming an individual title. Building on the momentum from day one, the Aggies secured multiple podium finishes and top-ten performances to solidify a dominant showing across Reno and Seattle.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maya Shinnick continued her relentless pace in the record books, shattering her own 400m dash program record with a blistering 53.71 finish. Shinnick's second-place podium performance lowered her previous school mark by nearly half a second, marking the second time this season she has redefined the standard for an event.
- Kylee Davis rose to the occasion in the high jump, clearing 1.69m to secure a first-place finish in the B-Pit. The victory capped off a high-impact weekend for Davis, who also earned a podium spot in the long jump on Friday.
- In the 800m run, Dominika Janik delivered a gritty performance as the lone Aggie in the field, battling to a sixth-place finish with a time of 2:13.85.
- The Aggie distance crew displayed its depth in the 3000m run, as Brooke Butler (10:48.10) and Kiah Aiken (10:56.31) claimed seventh and eighth place respectively, keeping UC Davis at the forefront of the distance events.
- In the field, Maya Ifo-Desai led the Aggie throwers in the shot put with a 13.07m mark, while Chinyere Egbuziem followed with a toss of 11.91m.
- To close out the track events in Reno, the 4x400m relay squad of Ashleigh Christy, Dominika Janik, Ava Reichow, and Maya Shinnick combined for an eighth-place finish, clocking in at 3:51.17.
- Meanwhile, at the Husky Invite in Seattle, Fiona McGrath represented the Aggies in a highly competitive mile run, crossing the line in 5:01.15.
