RENO, Nev. — UC Davis closed out the Nevada Invite with
Maya Shinnick turning in an impressive pair of silver-medal performances, including a school-record breaking 200m dash, as the Aggies posted multiple top-ten finishes and personal bests.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kicking off the field events, Elizabeth Churchill finished in 8th place in the high jump after clearing 1.62 meters.
- Chiara Fantin powered through the triple jump, landing 12th with a mark of 11.24 meters.
- In shot put, Chinyere Egbuziem launched 11.79 meters to secure 15th place.
- On the track, Maya Shinnick received 2nd place in the 200m dash after receiving an impressive time of 24.01 seconds, simultaneously breaking her own school record of 24.08 seconds from last season.
- Dominika Janik took the track by storm in the 800m run, finishing 3rd with a time of 2:16.29, with teammate Miriam Aguirre just behind, finishing 4th with a time of 2:16.29.
- Grace Dunham led the Aggies in the 3000m run, crossing 5th with a time of 10:42.27, followed by Hannah Aguirre in 8th at 10:56.36.
- Shinnick doubled her silver haul, taking 2nd in the 400m dash with a noteworthy 54.35 seconds. Several personal highs were also made in the 400m, including Elle Middleton with a time of 59.60, Katie Coppersmith with a time of 1:00.58, and Avah Reichow with a time of 58.52.
- Closing out the day, the 4x400m relay team of Christy, Janik, Middleton, and Reichow finished 8th with a time of 3:55.94.

UP NEXT: After a month off from competition, the Aggies will split squads to compete in two meets, with some returning to Reno for the Battleborn Classic, while others head to Seattle for the Husky Classic, both held Friday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 14.
