RENO, Nev. — UC Davis kicked off day one of the Nevada Invite with
Kylee Davis shattering the indoor long jump school record, powering the Aggies to an impressive showing. Alongside Davis's first-place, record-setting leap, multiple Aggies set personal records and secured top finishes, building momentum as the meet heads into its final day tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 17, with competition beginning at 10 a.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kylee Davis broke the UC Davis indoor long jump school record with a leap of 6.09 meters to claim 1st place in the event, followed by teammate Kadidja Sangare, who finished 2nd at 5.96 meters.
- In the weight throw event, Ningning O'Brien set a new PR, placing 4th with a throw of 16.97 meters, closely followed by Hailey Hernandez in 5th place, throwing 16.89 meters.
- Sangare also set a new PR in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 5th in the finals at 8.73 seconds, and earning herself a 3rd place spot in the UC Davis indoor record book.
- In the 60-meter dash, Rujeko Munetsi too set a PR with a 7.66-second run, narrowly missing the finals by her opponent's time of 7.65 seconds.
- In the mile run, Peyton Adams dominated the track, finishing 3rd with a time of 5:05.56.
- Closing out the day, Shae Wright cleared 3.41 meters to finish 4th in the pole vault event.
