RENO, Nev. — UC Davis indoor track and field kicked off day one of the Battleborn Classic and Husky Classic with a historic performance headlined by
Kadidja Sangare shattering a 16-year-old school record in the 60m hurdles. Alongside Sangare's record-setting sprint,
Shae Wright and
Kylee Davis both secured podium finishes to lead a strong showing for the Aggies, building momentum across Reno and Seattle to kick off the weekend of competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kadidja Sangare stole the show in the 60m hurdles, clocking a blistering 8.66 in the prelims to officially break the UC Davis indoor school record previously set in 2010.
- In the field events, Shae Wright secured a career-best second-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.64m to lead the Aggie vault crew.
- Over at the long jump pit, Kylee Davis continued her consistent season, leaping 5.98m to claim third place, while Sangare returned to the field to secure eighth with a jump of 5.90m.
- The weight throw saw Hailey Hernandez lead the way for the Aggies, placing sixth with a toss of 17.00m, followed by Ningning O'Brien who finished tenth at 16.38m.
- On the track, Gracie Trenam put together a strong performance in the mile, finishing fifth with a time of 5:08.83.
- In the 60m dash, Rujeko Munetsi advanced through the prelims and improved her time in the semifinals to 7.60 seconds, finishing 21st overall in a highly competitive field.
- Meanwhile, at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Fiona McGrath represented the Aggies in the 5000 meters, crossing the line in 32nd place with a time of 17:34.99.
