SACRAMENTO, CA - The UC Davis track and field competed at the Hornet Invite held in Sacramento over the weekend of March 15th and 16th. The Aggies built on their stellar season home opener last weekend by achieving numerous personal bests and securing notable finishes, including a first-place finish from Chris Coles in the 3000m steeplechase.
FIELD EVENTS:
In the hammer throw, Ashpreet Kler set a personal record with a throw of 54.47m, securing 8th place in the UCD outdoor record book. Meanwhile, Harrison Hansen set a personal best with a throw of 49.45m.
In the shot put, Brianna Nuun achieved a personal record with a throw of 12.74m, while Corey Moore secured 6th place with a throw of 15.88m. Moore continued to impress in the discus throw, claiming 3rd place with a throw of 49.73m.
In the field events, Chiara Fantin soared to a personal record distance of 11.36m in the triple jump, while Nickolaus Santos and Riley Lankford achieved personal bests in the long jump with jumps of 6.28m and 5.59m respectively.
Kylee Davis showcased her talent in the high jump, securing 2nd place with a personal record jump of 1.67m, with Jayme Hendrickson and Sierra Meier also delivering impressive performances, posting heights of 1.67m and 1.62 meters to take 4th and 8th.Â
In the pole vault, Caroline AU reached a personal record height of 3.65m, while Ryan Ishibashi and Aiden Hagerty secured 3rd and 4th place respectively with personal best vaults of 4.90m.
TRACK EVENTS:
In the distance events, Sydney Makar achieved a personal record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:12.95, while Chris Coles claimed 1st place with an impressive time of 9:21.02.
In the 1500m race, Brianna Weidler secured 3rd place with a personal record time of 4:22.64, while Maddie Kackley achieved 5th place with a personal best of 4:23.98. Other notable performances included Oriana Jalal, Brooke Butler, and Kayla Rutz achieving personal records in this event.
In the 3000m race, Brooke Butler, Kayla Rutz, and Shae Hill achieved personal records, with Ethan Brookes securing 7th place and ranking 5th in the outdoor UCD record book with an impressive time of 8:20.86.
The Aggies also demonstrated their speed on the track, with Sydney Makar and Madeline Coles setting personal records in the 800m, and Kian Maher impressing with a personal best time of 48.31 seconds in the 400m.
In the 200m race, Kian Maher and Samuel Wilson achieved personal records with times of 21.90 and 22.37 seconds respectively.
In the hurdles events, Trisha Sharma and Juana Fernandez Cabrera both achieved personal records, while the women's 4x400m relay team displayed teamwork and speed, securing 7th place with a commendable time of 3:52.66.
The men's team tied for 6th place out of 20 teams with 33 points, while the women's team secured 8th place out of 17 teams with 24 points.Â
