DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis will compete in the final home series of the season versus its Big West rivals when Cal Poly visits Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins Stadium this weekend. Action will begin with Friday's 2:30 p.m. series opener, continue with Saturday's 12 p.m. doubleheader and conclude on Sunday at 1 p.m.  — the Aggies' 2021 home finale.

Baseball fans should arrive to campus and find their seats on Sunday by 12:30 p.m. since the program will honor its 11-member graduating class during its pregame Senior Day ceremony, and thank Brett Erwin, Colton Evans, Spencer Gedestad, Nick Johnson, Cooper Morrison, Jackson O'Boy, Steve Ouellette, Ryan Rodriguez, Isaiah Verrett, Tim Wieser and Dexter Wilkerson for their hard work, sacrifices and positive contributions to the team throughout their respective careers.

A video stream and live stats are available for the entire series, fans can follow the action for each game by clicking respective links. Providing play-by-play commentary and analysis for each game of this weekend's live streams are Will Wyman and Omar Navarro. Ryan Cohen will join the pair for Friday and Sunday's games.

UC Davis will return home following a weekend series at UC San Diego that saw Gedestad hit .500, finish with seven hits, three RBI and seven total bases — all team-high figures.

The Aggies' weekend in La Jolla was one Omar Plascencia will never forget since he hit his first career home run in the opening game of last Saturday's doubleheader. The freshman catcher did not waste any time in recording his second by hitting another blast in the following contest. With those swings, Plascencia became the first Aggie since April 22, 2019, to hit a pair of home runs in one day.

Earning the win against the Tritons was Friday starter Jake Spillane, who scattered five hits throughout his 6.2 innings thrown and allowed a pair of runs to help UC Davis open the weekend with a 5-2 victory. By shutting out UCSD throughout the final 2.1 innings of the game, Zach Carrell earned his first career save that afternoon.

UC Davis has been one of the top base-stealing teams in the Big West all season long, and will return home ranked No. 2 with 57. By contrast, Cal Poly's 13 steals is a league-low total. Baseball fans should not be surprised if these rankings hold for another week since the Aggies and Mustangs rank No. 2 and No. 10 in runners caught stealing with 20 and 9, respectively.

Jalen Smith is a key reason why UC Davis has been successful on the basepaths this season since his 15 steals is the second-highest individual total in the league. Morrison and Kyler Arenado have given opposing pitchers fits all season long since they also hold top-10 stolen base totals; the former is ranked No. 6 with 12 steals, the latter is No. 9 and trails his teammate by only one base.

Cal Poly will head to Davis for its final road series of 2021 off its first series sweep against Cal State Fullerton since 2014.

Led by redshirt senior catcher Myles Emmerson, who batted 10-for-19 and drove in four runs, and shortstop Brooks Lee, who recorded nine hits in 18 at bats — a total that includes four doubles and a home run (in addition to finishing with seven RBI for the weekend), the Mustangs hit .425 against the Titans. Cal Poly also saw its pitchers post an ERA of 1.36 and allow Cal State Fullerton to score five runs for the series.

In the 51 games that took place since the first head-to-head meeting in 1951, the Mustangs hold a 39-12 series advantage.
