THE SHORT STORY: Riley Hunsaker's two-run home run to right field in the top of the 11th lifted CBU to a 4-2 win over UC Davis on Thursday night at Dobbins Stadium, sending the Aggies to an extra-inning loss that clinched the series for the Lancers. UC Davis twice rallied to tie the game, first on a Kai Mault sacrifice fly in the sixth and again on Tyler Howard's pinch-hit RBI double in the 10th, but it was the Lancers prevailing in the 11th. Jack Pezzolo turned in 5.0 innings of one-run ball as the starter, and Peter Storjohann added 3.0 scoreless innings of one-hit relief to keep UC Davis in the game.

LEADING OFF

• Pezzolo worked 5.0 innings as the starter, allowing one run on six hits with four strikeouts on 75 pitches
• Storjohann added 3.0 scoreless innings of one-hit relief with two strikeouts on 43 pitches
• Howard finished 1-for-1 with the pinch-hit RBI double in the 10th that tied the game at 2-2
• Elijah McNeal finished 2-for-4 with a hit by pitch and a stolen base
• Braydon Wooldridge tripled to lead off the sixth and came around to score on Mault's sacrifice fly
• Mault drove in the Aggies' first run with a sacrifice fly to center in the sixth
• Wood (2-3) took the loss after 3.0 innings of three-run relief, with two of the runs earned

HOW IT HAPPENED

• CBU scored first in the top of the first as Cole Howarth's sacrifice fly to center plated Chris Ramirez for a 1-0 Lancer lead.
• UC Davis tied the game in the bottom of the sixth as Wooldridge led off with a triple and Mault followed with a sacrifice fly to center to score Wooldridge.
• Pezzolo and CBU starter Luis Becerra both turned the game over to their bullpens, and the score stayed 1-1 into extras.
• CBU broke through in the top of the 10th when Connor Ross reached on a throwing error by third base, allowing Bryce McFeely to score from second for an unearned run and a 2-1 Lancer lead.
• UC Davis answered in the bottom of the 10th as Ryan Lee drew a walk and came around to score on Howard's pinch-hit RBI double to left center off John Carlson, knotting the game at 2-2.
• Riley Hunsaker delivered the decisive blow in the top of the 11th with a two-run home run to right field, scoring Camden Andrews ahead of him for a 4-2 CBU lead.
• UC Davis went down in order against Cameron Teper (7-2) in the bottom of the 11th, recording two strikeouts to seal the series win for the Lancers.

THE PLAYOFF PATH
With Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine both scheduled for two more conference games this weekend, UC Davis's path to one of the five Big West Championship spots remains alive. The Aggies (14-16 Big West, .467) need both of the following over the final two days of conference play:

• Cal State Fullerton must lose both remaining games at UC San Diego (Friday and Saturday).
• Cal State Bakersfield must win a game in Irvine (Friday and Saturday).
