Sydney Holmes at UW Invite fourth all-time in indoor long jump 2020

Women's Track & Field (Indoor)

Holmes and Goodisson earn all-time top-five marks to close UW Invite

SEATTLE, Wash. — Closing their opening meet at Dempsey Indoor, the Aggies recorded top marks on day two, with Sydney Holmes and Eva Goodisson earning a spot on the UC Davis indoor track and field all-time lists.

In the day's first event, Holmes bettered her season best from 2019 indoor and outdoor in the long jump, going 5.52m (18-01.50) to tie for fourth in the meet, and take fourth all-time at UC Davis with her new indoor personal best. Besides Erinn Beattie's school record indoor jump from last year, this is the best indoor jump since 2005. Holmes concluded her day in the triple jump, and just missed fifth all-time by 0.04m (two inches) with a seventh-place finish.

In her debut in the event, sophomore Goodisson crushed the 3000m in 9:31.48 to be fifth all-time at UC Davis, joining elite company of Alycia Cridebring, Kim Conley, Katie Fry, and Christine Hoffmann. Goodisson placed 23rd overall, after four Bowerman Track Club athletes, and the top 11 finishers competing unattached or for a professional club.

Junior Kathleen Bufka competed indoor for the first time in her career, finishing 11th in the long jump, and 30th in the 60m dash, as did Samantha Louie who jumped 11.11m (36-05.50) for 15th. Freshman Alexys Ford ran her first 400m as an Aggie, crossing 34th.

In the 400m, Flora Oliveira put up her fastest time since the 2018 indoor season to finish tenth overall, while freshman Sierra Atkins recorded a sub-5 minute mile to be one second out of the top-five all-time.

In the women's shot put, Marlene Gutierrez recorded an indoor PR of 12.84m (42-01.50) to finish 24th.

The Aggies will have the next weekend off before competing split squad at the Don Kirby Elite Invitation in Albuquerque, and at the Husky Invite back at Dempsey Indoor at UW from Feb. 13-15.
