2021: BIG WEST CHAMPION in shot put, hitting PR throw of 14.61m/47-11.25... Moved ahead of Kim Gleeson for 4th in school record book... Broke 14 meters on three other occasions, including 14.40m/47-3 despite a sore back at Causeway Track Classic... Also threw hammer five times, including 53.94m/176-11 at CSF Tri-Meet (3/4), good for 7th in Aggie outdoor annals... Also went 51.26m/168-2 at CSUN Red & Black (4/2), 51.19m/167-11 at Sac Tri-Team Challenge (2/27)... Indoor season was canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
2020:Â Finished third at the Cal Invite (3/7) in the Hammer Throw with a result of 49.04m (160-10)... Also finished second in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.04m (42-09.50)... That was the only meet the Aggies competed in since COVID-19 forced a premature end to the season... During the indoor season, she recorded the fifth-longest result in UC Davis history, in the Weight Throw at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational (2/13) by finishing with a distance of 16.16m (53-00.25).
2019: Led Aggies in shot put with season-best 13.87m/45-6.25 at Titan Classic (3/29), entering her in school’s outdoor top 10... Did not post a shot mark at Big West Conference, but placed 9th in hammer at league championships (51.45m/168-9)... Best hammer throw came a week earlier with 52.86m/173-6 at Payton Jordan Invite (5/2)... Competed three times indoors, with 12.37m/40-7 shot at UNM Classic.
LINDSAY HS’ 18: Played volleyball, basketball, and softball for three years before picking up track her senior year… Earned Rookie of the Year, Captain Award, and All-East Sequoia League First Team honors as a setter for the volleyball team… Played as a power forward and center for basketball, earning Rookie of the Year, Honorable Mention, All-League First Team, Most Defensive Player of the Year, and MVP awards… Outfielder on the softball team, earning All-League First Team and Most Offensive Player of the Year awards two years in a row… In track, threw shot put and discus… Most Valuable Field Player in her senior year of track…. East Sequoia League Champion in both shot put and discus.
PERSONAL: Born in Porterville, Calif… Parents are Mayra Loya and Gerardo Gutierrez… Has two younger brothers, Joaquin and Marcus… Majoring in psychology, and plans on getting into counseling services… Sports hero is Jackie Robinson… Non-sports hero is Mahatma Gandhi… Most people don’t know she knows how to sign in American Sign Language at an intermediate level… Top three things on her bucket list are to go skydiving, travel to at least ten countries, and to learn two more languages.Â
