Aggies wrap up run at Windon Memorial Classic

Hutchison shoots second straight round of 70 to finish in the top 15

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Junior Thomas Hutchison closed out the Windon Memorial Classic with his second straight sub-par round, firing a final-round 1-under 70 to lead the UC Davis men's golf team in its second tournament of the season on Tuesday at the Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill.

The Aggies, as a team, finished in 11th place with an 877 team total, edging out Purdue, Michigan, and Northern Illinois. Notre Dame, which finished day one atop the leader board, won the team title with a 10-under 842, ahead of runner-up Ole Miss by five strokes.

After carding five of his eight birdies on the front nine on day one, Hutchison was 1-over after the first nine holes on Tuesday before rallying on the back nine to wrap up the day. Birdies on the par-four 12th and par-four 16th put the San Jose, Calif., native at 1-under for the day and jumping him three spots in the final standings into a tie for 13th overall at ever-par for the tournament.

Day one Aggie leader Shane Muldowney, struggled to a final-round 78 after shooting par through the first two rounds to stand in a tie for 12th after 36 holes, while freshman Jacob Westberg wrapped up his first collegiate tournament by tying his season-best score with a 2-over 73 in Tuesday's final round to end the event in a tie for 46th.

Sophomore Daniel Kim started strong, finishing the front nine at even par en route to a final-round 74 and a tie for 57th, while freshman Lucas Carper finished in a tie for 68th.

There will be no rest for the Aggies, who make a quick turnaround to compete at the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by SMU in Dallas, Texas. The tournament begins Sunday (Sept. 22) and runs through Tuesday (Sept. 24) at the Trinity Forest Golf Club.
