FAIRFAX, Calif. - By shooting a 7-over 295, three shots better than Monday's team score, UC Davis climbed one spot on the Meadow Club Women's Collegiate's leaderboard and finished in sixth place. With its 593 score through 36 holes - one round on Monday was trimmed due to a frost delay - the Aggies finished one shot behind Illinois, ranked No. 22 in the nation, and just five behind No. 19 Colorado.

Sophomore psychology major Rei Nakatani recorded the lowest individual score for the Aggies; her 2-under 70, thanks to five birdies scattered throughout her afternoon, helped her climb 32 spots from yesterday's standing and finish tied for 28th at 5-over.

She was one of eight golfers who broke par on Tuesday.

For the event, only one player fared better on par 5s than Nakataki, who shot a cumulative 4-under on these holes. Her seven birdies recorded throughout this two-day event was the highest total among all Aggies.

Nakatani finished two shots shy of sophomore managerial economics major Christine Danielsson, who led the team with an T-18th finish with a 3-over 147.

Only one shot separated Nakatani and junior sociology major Samantha Hutchison, who finished behind her teammate at 6-over for the event with her 150. That same margin separated Hutchison's T-31 standing with freshman psychology major Hannah Sun's 151, which tied her for 37th. Sophomore undeclared major Yoonhee Kim's 154 led to 52nd-place result alongside seven other golfers.

Fifteenth-ranked Washington captured the Women's Collegiate team title with a 3-under 573 as the Huskies were the only squad to finish with an under-par score. San Francisco, the event's co-host with San José State, finished second at 7-over, followed by Oregon State at 10-over.

Colorado's Brittany Fan and San Francisco's Samantha Gong shared the individual championship with matching 4-under (140) scores.

With finals looming, UC Davis will enjoy a three-week hiatus until it returns to action on March 27 at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.
