SAN FRANCISCO - Senior Brandon Baumgarten and junior Tanner Hughes each shot matching 3-over-par 74 rounds to lead UC Davis on the final day of the Goodwin men's collegiate golf tournament at TPC Harding Park. Baumgarten was the top Aggie finisher overall, placing in a tie for 59th place, while the team shared 23rd place among the 26-team field.
Baumgarten birdied the first and fourth holes to close out his tournament with 218 total strokes, three ahead of freshman teammate
Thomas Hutchison, who finished in a tie for 78th place. Junior
Ryan Han shot a 5-over 76 toward his 54-hole total of 225, good for a tie for 101st. Hughes ended up a stroke back of Han in t108th, while senior
Evan Knight carded a 77 in Saturday's final round to close out at 230 total strokes. No. 6-ranked Oklahoma held off No. 5 California for the team title, wrapping up a 24-under-par 828. The Golden Bears placed second at 21-under, with host Stanford moving into third with 16-under 836. Oregon's Norman Xiong, ranked fifth nationally by Golfweek, won the individual medalist at 15-under-par 198 for the weekend. This marked the 49th running of Stanford's annual home tourney, formerly known as the United States Intercollegiate. The par-71 TPC Harding Park course covered 7,143 yards. The Aggies return to action at Wyoming's Cowboy Classic, held in Chandler, Arizona, from April 9-10.
