SAN FRANCISCO/STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Olivia Goins won the third section of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, highlighting a crew of UC Davis distance and middle distance runners competing at two different Bay Area track & field meets Friday. The Aggies fielded runners both at S.F. State and at the Stanford Invitational.
Goins crossed with a time of 10 minutes, 51.44 seconds, marking a 30-second improvement over her previous PR and moving her into ninth in the all-time school leaderboard. In fact, she displaced her twin sister Rianna, who went 10:54.09 two years ago at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational. Goins finished 17th overall among the three sections, matching the place of sophomore
Jordy Ceja, who went 30:28.00 in the 10,000 to start the day at Cox Stadium. Meanwhile, 30 miles south of San Francisco State, seniors
Nick Ratto,
Jordon Rushing and
Clara MacLeod competed at the Stanford invite. Ratto finished sixth in his section of the 1,500 at 3:55.78, while Rushing and MacLeod participated in their respective steeplechase events. UC Davis continues action at S.F. State and Stanford on Saturday, with the majority of the team taking part at Sacramento State's Mondo Team Challenge.
