DAVIS, Calif. -- Host UC Davis won 12 of the 16 events on the day, including a pair of individual wins from both sophomore Solie Laughlin and Elise Roberts, to help lift the Aggies to a, 172-128, victory over Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rival BYU on Friday afternoon at the Schaal Aquatics Center on campus.

The victory lifted UC Davis to 5-2 overall in duals this season and 3-0 against MPSF opponents, while the Cougars fell to 1-2. The Aggies have now won the last three straight duals over BYU during the regular season dating back to 2014.

UC Davis opened with a win in the 200 medley relay, setting a season-best with a time of 1:45.68, to take an early lead before BYU responded with a win in the 1000 free by Savannah DuPuis, and a Tiare Coker victory in the 200 free, to go up 33-22 after three events.

Laughlin's triumph in the 100 back (56.79) and Roberts' win in the 100 breast (1:04.75) began the Aggies' comeback, closing them to within five points, 49-44. Laughlin's time was a season-best by an Aggie in the 100 back in her first race at that distance this season, while Roberts set a season-best time in her first race at that distance, as well.

The Cougars inched their advantage back to six with a win by Vanessa Moffatt in the 200 fly, as Cora McClelland (2:05.97) posted a season best time to help the Aggies finish 2-3-4 in the event and remain close, helping set the stage for a big UC Davis comeback.

A win by Kirsten Brand in the 50 free (24.19) led the way for an Aggie sweep in the event, with Courtney Schultz (24.27) and Jaime Pincin (24.53) close behind, and kick-started a stretch of five straight UC Davis event victories to put the Aggies up, 116-91. After the break, Pincin and Schultz finished in a dead heat to split first-place points in the 100 free in a time of 52.50, Laughlin followed with a win in the 200 back (2:02.08), and Roberts and Marissa Brown touched first in the 200 breast (2:21.27) and 500 free (5:03.12), respectively.

Schultz, who posted her second-fastest time of the season earlier in the day in the 200 free, won for the second time in the 100 free, while Pincin posted her first individual win as an Aggie after contributing to a trio of winning relays this year. Laughlin posted her second win of the season in the 200 back, while Roberts has won the 200 breast in all three of her team's competitions thus far this season.

The lead was one that UC Davis would not relinquish as Shaifali Goyal (240.23), Serena Yee (239.73), and Inessa Toropov (229.28), took three of the top five spots on the 3-meter, McClelland posted a season-best time in the 100 fly en route to a second-place finish and lead a 2-3-4 finish for the Aggies, and the home team claimed victories by Eva Chung (2:06.46) in the 200 IM and the quartet of Mia Facey, Kirsten Brand, Pincin, and Schultz, in the 400 free relay.

On the 3-meter board, Goyal (242.48) and Yee (233.55) closed with a 1-2 finish on the low board to close out the win.

Roberts and Laughlin finished with a team-high 20.5 points to share meet-high honors for UC Davis, while Coker contributed 18 points to the Cougars' day to lead the way for the visitors.

The Aggies return to the pool at the Schaal Aquatics Center next Friday (Nov. 4) at 4 p.m., hosting a double dual against Nevada and Cal State East Bay.
