FRESNO, Calif. — UC Davis' wrapped up action Saturday on the second day of the two-day Gary Ota Memorial Invite hosted by Fresno State. The Aggies scored 540 points to finish fourth in the five-time meet won by San Diego State with 1090.5 points.

UC Davis' performances Saturday were highlighted by Zoe Childers' third-place finish in the 200 fly with a season-best time of 2:00.48. The Aggies had two of the top five finishers in the event with Madison McCormick taking fifth in 2:02.40.

"Our women had to overcome tough travel to go with an already difficult schedule with three sessions in about 24 hours," head coach Matt Macedo said. "I thought we raced tough and had a mix of lifetime bests and tons of in-season bests, which was the goal coming in."

Childers also had UC Davis' top swimming finish on the first day of the meet Friday with a fourth-place showing in the 200 IM (2:02.23), as well as a notable personal-best 100 IM swim of 57.84 on Saturday that resulted in a sixth-place finish.

Other notable swims for the Aggies on Saturday included Emily Scheberies (2:01.13) and Ella Palmer (2:02.33) in season-best times to finish sixth and ninth, as well as Ayanna Thompson's eighth-place showing in the 1650 free also in a season-best time of 17:29.51.

Katherine Lim had the Aggies' top diving performance of the event also on Friday with a second-place showing in the 3 meter. Lim was sixth Saturday in the 1 meter diving competition.

The Aggies competed in a total of 11 individual swimming and four relay events, as well as three diving competitions in three sessions over two days at the Fresno State Aquatics Center.

UC Davis is next in action in a home dual meet at Schaal Aquatics Center against UC San Diego on Saturday, Oct. 31 (Noon PT).

"This meet gives us the chance to prepare for our midseason meet in Utah next month," Macedo added. "We look forward to tightening things up in preparation for UC San Diego on Halloween, which is always a fast meet."
