TERRA NOVA HS [apos]08: Three-time cross country MVP... Finished 7th at Peninsula Athletic League championship then 14th at Central Coast Section meet as a senior... Also a four-year letterwinner in track & field, earning team MVP honors in 2005 and 2007... Four-year Scholar-Athlete winner.

PERSONAL: Born in San Francisco, Calif.... Majoring in comparative literature... Parents are Bob Dettmer and Marilyn Hurst... Related to William Murphy, who survived the Donner Party at age 10.
