CROSS COUNTRY: Competed five times in 2009, crossing as team[apos]s No. 5 scorer at Big West Conference (25th) and NCAA West Regional (72nd)... Appeared in four meets as a freshman, starting year with 9th-place finish in Aggie Open.
SANTA CLARA HS [apos]08: Placed 7th (15:38) among Division II runners at Central Coast Section cross country championship in 2007... Finished 57th (16:40) at CIF state meet... Also a CCS finalist in 3,200 during track season... Three-time Santa Clara Valley Athletic League champion (twice in track, one in cross country).
PERSONAL: Born in Ethiopia, moving to U.S. in 2002... Majoring in chemical engineering & material science... Parents are Andarge Belachew and Ehite Ayele... Older brother, Desalgen, also attends UC Davis... By the time he[apos]s 30, hopes to move to Jamaica.
