Men's Golf Ready for Lamkin Invitational

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — UC Davis men's golf heads south this week to compete in the 2026 R.E. Lamkin Invitational. Hosted jointly by San Diego State and the University of San Diego , the two-day tournament tees off Monday at the San Diego Country Club.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
  • The Aggies head to Chula Vista looking to bounce back after a weather-shortened outing at The Prestige.
  • The lineup looks to tackle a historic Southern California track located just south of downtown San Diego. The two-day event will feature 54 holes of stroke play. Monday will consist of 36 continuous holes beginning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.. Tuesday's final 18 holes will shift to tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. off holes 1 and 10.
  • The lineup for UC Davis includes: Curtis Da Silva, Lequan Wang, Ryan Firpo, Shaun Nair, Zhenxian Zhang, and individual participant, Treed Huang.
  • The 16-team field features strong regional competition: Brigham Young, Cal Poly, Colorado, Fresno State, Long Beach State, Pacific, Saint Mary's, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UT Arlington, and Wyoming.
  • Course: San Diego Country Club – Chula Vista, Calif.

  • Format: The 16-team field will compete in a 54-hole collegiate tournament. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. The low four individual scores will count toward the team score each round.
SEASON NOTES
  • UC Davis returns to action following a trip to the desert, where high winds forced the cancellation of the final round at The Prestige, reverting the final team standings to the 36-hole results. The Aggies finished 19th in a loaded 24-team field.
  • Lequan Wang paces the Aggies coming into the week, finishing as the top UC Davis performer at The Prestige. Wang tied for 41st individually with a two-day total of 146 (+4), highlighted by an impressive 3-under 68 in the opening round.
  • Curtis Da Silva and Ryan Firpo provided steady depth in La Quinta, tying for 66th place with matching totals of 150 (+8). Da Silva closed his week with the team's best score in Round 2 (74), while Firpo remained consistent with back-to-back rounds of 75.
  • Shaun Nair enters the Lamkin Invitational with strong momentum after a top-10 finish. Competing as an individual at The Prestige's Terra Lago event, Nair battled through all three rounds to tie for 10th place with a 225 (+9) total.
  • Zhenxian Zhang and Treed Huang both gained valuable experience at PGA WEST, with Zhang making his official collegiate debut. Huang posted rounds of 77 and 79 at the Prestige, while Zhang finished the week with a 76 and 77 at The Prestige.
  • Head Coach Cy Williams continues his 32nd year at the helm, guiding the Aggies in their third spring tournament of the 2025-26 season.
