RENO, Nev. — UC Davis track and field officially put a cap on the indoor season Monday afternoon, battling through a high-stakes final day to secure eighth place at the MPSF Championships. Fueled by a relentless competitive spirit, the Aggies' finale was highlighted by
Maya Shinnick's silver-medal performance and a wave of gritty results to conclude the weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maya Shinnick delivered the performance of the day in the 400m dash, flying to a second-place podium finish with a blistering time of 53.84. Shinnick's silver-medal run proved to be a weekend highlight, as she clocked in even faster than her record-setting performance at last year's championships.
- Kadidja Sangare continued her historic weekend in the 60m hurdles. After shattering the school record in Sunday's prelims, Sangare returned to the blocks for the final to secure fourth place overall (8.56).
- The relay squad of Miriam Aguirre, Ashleigh Christy, Dominika Janik, and Gracie Trenam provided a thrilling finale to the meet. The quartet battled through the final heat of the 4x400m relay to claim fourth place with a time of 3:46.04, putting a stamp on the Aggies' top-ten team finish.
- In the distance events, Peyton Adams showed immense heart by pulling off a difficult double. Adams led the way for Davis in the Mile, taking 13th (5:06.88), before returning just two hours later to compete in the 3,000m. Hannah Aguirre also represented the Ags in the Mile, crossing the line in 5:14.11.
- Dominika Janik led the Aggies in a fast 800m field, surging to 11th place with a time of 2:14.44, while Miriam Aguirre followed in 2:20.83. The 3,000m run featured a wave of Aggies, with Fiona McGrath (15th, 10:13.99), Stormy Wallace (24th, 10:28.74), and Brooke Butler (26th, 10:32.23) all fighting through the final laps to close out their indoor campaigns.
- In the field, Riley Lankford soared to an 11th-place finish in the triple jump, posting a best mark of 11.16m. Over at the shot put ring, Maya Ifo-Desai led the Aggie throwers with a toss of 12.34m to take 16th, while Chinyere Egbuziem followed close behind with a mark of 11.76m.
- Sprinting standouts Lily Holman and Rujeko Munetsi both competed in the 60m dash, while Katie Coppersmith (58.54) and Avah Reichow (59.75) added depth to the Aggies' 400m squad.
