DAVIS, Calif. – The Ags sprint off at the pop of the gun for the 2025 outdoor season, starting with a home meet that fared multiple golden victories for the Aggies.
Defending their home territory, the Ags had a strong showing against some local talent in the NorCal area on both the track and the field.
On the day, the Ags garnered twelve first place titles and forty five top-five finishes overall, and first out of the eleven competing teams with a grand total of 218 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN):
Freshman
Jake Joerger had an incredible debut repping the Aggie brand, scoring first overall in the shot put event with a 15.57 meter finish to smoke the competition.
Senior
Caveli Hensley earned the first place title in the high jump with a 1.91 meter flight, .06 meters higher than the second place finisher.
Christian Taylor had an incredible 800 meter performance, taking first overall with an incredible display of speed.
Junior
Luke Wales had a strong day, collecting second place in the 400 meter run and third in the 200.
Jordan Zamora and
Landon Beckman captured second and third in the hammer throw, and
Nick Santos took third overall in the triple jump. Aiden Hagerty and
Ryan Ishibashi tied for second and third in the pole vault, launching themselves over 4.88 meters.
Junior
Muhammed Ahmed led Aggies in the 3,000 Meter run with a first place performance, leading five Aggies into the top six in the event.
Senior
Harrison Hansen took second place as the lone Aggie competing over the 400 meter hurdles, and
Nick Santos was third in the triple jump.
Four Aggie men took top ten places in the discus as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN):
Kadidja Sangare topped the Aggie women, collecting three first place finishes for the day in the long jump, high jump, and the 4x100 meter relay team.
Junior
Maya Shinnick had two first place finishes, part of the 4x100 meter power relay squad and the 200 meter run.
Senior Maddie Kackley led an electric squad of runners in the 3,000 meter run, with six Aggie finishers in the top ten.
On the field for the women, junior Sangare took first place in the long jump with a strong 5.95 meter flight. Right behind was
Riley Lankford in third place with a 5.44 meter performance.
Power duo
Sarah Graessley and
Sydney McCann showed out for the pole vault, securing first and second respectively.
Senior
Brianna Nunn took second in the shot put with a close competition, throwing a 13.98 meter chuck.
Over the hurdles,
Dominika Janik captured first place, with
Ashleigh Christy not far behind. Freshman
Grace Dunham blazed into second place, clearing 1500 meters with an impressive speed of 4:42.87.
The women also swept the relay events, both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays ended in victory for the teams and the gold finish.
