DAVIS, Calif. — After helping lead their team to back-to-back home wins last week, UC Davis volleyball's
Jade Light and
Mia Starr have been named Big West Players of the Week on Monday, Nov. 3. Light was awarded the conference's Offensive Player of the Week award, while Starr was named the Big West Setter of the Week.
Named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, Light collected 32 kills across seven sets played in a 2-0 weekend for her team.
In a sweep of UC Riverside on Tuesday, Light orchestrated the offense with 13 kills while collecting eight digs and two block assists. Against Hawai'i two days later, she stepped her play up even further with a 19 kill, 13 dig double-double with a service ace and a block.
With 83 assists across the two matches last week, Starr has been named the Big West Setter of the Week for the third time this season.
Against the Highlanders, Starr was the anchor for the team with 37 assists while digging seven balls and knocking down three blocks. Two days later versus the Rainbow Wahine, she secured a double-double with 46 assists and 12 digs while also collecting three blocks.
These wins helped keep the Aggies at the top of the Big West standings at 11-1, while the team swept Hawai'i in the regular season for the first time in program history.
