Six Aggies Named To All-Big West Teams

DAVIS, Calif. — Following a historic 2025 season, UC Davis volleyball sees several players land on the All-Big West Conference teams, with three being selected on the league's first team, one on the second team, one as an honorable mention, and one on the all-freshman team.

Jade Light - All-Big West First Team

Also named the Big West's Player of the Year, Light has been one of the conference's most complete players all season. She leads the Big West with 3.99 kills per set, ranks 10th with 26 service aces, and sits 13th with 246 total digs. She has also contributed 37 total blocks at the net.

Light's versatility translated into 10 double-doubles this season, and she was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week three times.

Mia Starr - All-Big West First Team

After earning Big West Honorable Mention last season and the conference's Setter of the Year this season, Starr has been the engine of the Aggie offense. She leads the conference with 1,009 total assists and 10.40 assists per set.

Starr has been named Setter of the Week four times and has recorded eight double-doubles. In a home win over UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 23, she posted a season-high 54 assists, along with 14 digs and two block assists, helping fuel a key comeback.

Ximena Cordero Barr - All-Big West First Team

In her first season as UC Davis's libero, Cordero Barr has made an immediate defensive impact, ranking second in the Big West with 4.59 digs per set.

The former Big West All-Freshman selection has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors three times. She set a then-career-high 35 digs in a four-set win over UC Irvine on Oct. 4, and surpassed that mark with 36 digs in the Aggies' comeback victory over CSUN in the penultimate match of the regular season. In addition to her First Team selection, she has also been named the conference's Libero of the Year.

Ally Chandler - All-Big West Second Team

Following an All-Conference Second Team honor a year ago, Chandler makes it on the list again after another spectacular campaign defending the net. With 99 blocks in the regular season, she led the Aggies while also averaging just over one block per set.

In addition to her defensive prowess, Chandler also took a step up on the offensive end in 2025, hitting a career-high .387 to rank second in the Big West. This number comes after several highly efficient performances, including an .833 hitting percentage against Utah State on Sept. 13, with five kills on six attempts.

Breeze Czapinski - All-Big West Honorable Mention

A junior out of Ramona, Czapinski has taken a huge step up at the hitter position in 2025, collecting career-highs in kills (271), digs (57), and blocks (76). At home against Long Beach State on Oct. 11, she led her team with 17 kills to help secure first place in the conference, leading the way to her first Big West Offensive Player of the Week award.

Among Big West hitters, she also ranks in the top 20 in multiple categories, including 13th in hitting percentage (.274), 13th in total points (278.5), and 14th in kills per set (2.86).

Brooke Hibino - All-Big West Freshman Team

Battling back from injuries in her first two seasons, Hibino has been a key contributor for the Aggies this season, ranking fourth on the team with 207 kills while collecting 46 total blocks along the way.

In an early-season matchup with Hawai'i on Sept. 27, she set a then-career-high 15 kills to lead Davis to their second-ever win in the Islands. A month later, against UC Santa Barbara at home, she had another career night, tying for the team lead with 18 kills to help lead the Aggies to a comeback win over the Gauchos.
