FIRST SERVE
  • With a team-leading 10 kills on the afternoon, Jade Light becomes just the 13th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career kills.
  • Light also tied for the team lead with 15 digs, giving her a sixth double-double for the season.
  • Rachel Dunagan and Ximena Cordero Barr also posted double-digit digs, with Dunagan grabbing 15 and Cordero Barr getting 13.
  • Mia Starr kept the offense rolling with 35 assists.
  • The Aggie defense kept the Mustang offense in check in the first set, holding Cal Poly to a 0.026 hitting percentage in the frame.
WHAT HEAD COACH DAN CONNERS HAD TO SAY

"We faced a formidable opponent today.  We will have to learn from this, but we got outplayed in all aspects of the game.  I'm proud they stayed together and kept competing at the end, but we just didn't have enough in the tank today."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After exchanging the first eight points with their opponent, the Aggies got a 4-0 scoring run started through the offense of Breeze Czapinski.
  • A few points later, the Mustangs responded with a run of their own, getting as close as within one.
  • But a pair of aces from Haden Bones paced the offense for her team, capitalizing on opposing errors to finally pull away and claim the first set 25-21.
  • Cal Poly flipped the script in set two, scoring five of the first six and playing with the lead all throughout.
  • Kills from Brooke Hibino and a block from Ally Chandler kept things close, but the Mustangs would go on to take the second 25-20 and tie things at one apiece.
  • The Mustang offense stayed hot into period three, going up by as much as 13 in the set.
  • Laela Burgess would record her first assist of the day off an Allie Caldwell kill, but the Aggies would fall 12-25 and find themselves in a 1-2 deficit.
  • UC Davis kept things close in the fourth set, with the offense of Hibino allowing the team to stay on the Mustangs' heels.
  • Despite errors from the home team, the Ags weren't able to take a lead, getting as close as one in the set.
  • Light would get the last three Aggie kills to surpass 1,000 in her career, but the team would fall 21-25 and lose for the first time since Sept. 14.
UP NEXT: The Aggies will have a short turnaround as the team returns home to face off against UC Riverside on Tuesday, Oct. 28. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. PT, and fans can watch the match live on ESPN+.
