DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis men's soccer's Gavin House has been named the Big West Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday, after anchoring the Aggie back line to back-to-back shutouts against UC Santa Barbara and CSUN.
House commanded the defense from his center back position in a 0-0 draw with the Gauchos on Thursday night before leading the Aggies to their first Big West win of the season with a 1-0 victory over the Matadors on Saturday.
The Visalia native added the game-winning assist in the CSUN matchup, finding Gabriel Haggerty for the deciding goal in the 58th minute.
Defensively, House helped limit UC Santa Barbara to just eight total shots, then guided a back line that allowed only two shots on goal despite 17 total attempts from CSUN. House also recorded a shot in the draw with UC Santa Barbara.
UC Davis (1-6-5, 1-1-2 Big West) returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 15, traveling to Cal State Bakersfield for a 7 p.m. kickoff before returning home to Aggie Soccer Field for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 18, against UC Riverside at 7 p.m.
