THE SHORT STORY: UC Davis struck first in the second half behind a goal from
Chase Tanon, but Cal Poly responded quickly and later delivered a late winner to edge the Aggies 2-1 in Wednesday night's ESPNU-televised Big West opener.

- Tanon scored his second goal of the season in the 49th minute, assisted by Andrew Dutra and Gavin House
- UC Davis outshot the Mustangs, finish the match with 15 shots, putting four on frame

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UC Davis created early momentum with shots from Nami Banks and Zachary Neuls forcing saves, while Zack Lillington's header in the 38th minute nearly broke the deadlock. Despite 10 first-half attempts, the Aggies went into halftime scoreless
- The Aggies found the breakthrough after the break when Tanon capitalized on a buildup from Dutra and House, slotting home his second goal of the season to make it 1-0
- The Mustangs quickly answered with an equalizer less than two minutes later, as Nico Baltazar converted off a feed from Michael Vick to level the match at 1-1
- Schwengeler came up big in the 53rd minute with a diving stop to deny Cal Poly's Jack Civitts and keep the score even
- The game shifted late, as Sean McTague provided the decisive goal in the 86th minute, with a right-footed finish to lift Cal Poly to the 2-1 win
