SPOKANE, WA - The UC Davis indoor track and field team competed in the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) Championship held in Spokane, WA, on February 25th and 26th. Over the two-day event, the Aggies delivered exceptional performances, securing several top finishes, personal bests, season bests, and demonstrating their depth across various disciplines.
Day 1 Highlights:
The Aggies started strong on day 1 with Ashpreet Kler leading the pack in the weight throw event, claiming the top spot with an impressive throw of 18.76 meters. Hailey Hernandez also made her mark, achieving a personal record with a throw of 17.34 meters, earning her a commendable 5th place.
In the 5000-meter race, Brianna Weidler showcased her endurance and speed, clinching the first position with a remarkable time of 16:21.38. Hope Bergmark and Sierra Atkins also delivered strong performances and secured top finishes for the Aggies. Hope Bergmark recorded a season best with 16:48.64 and secured 4th place. Sierra Atkins clocked in at 16:51.00 and took 7th place.Â
The jump events saw many notable performances from the team on day 1. Jayme Hendrickson soared to a season's best height of 1.68 meters in the pentathlon high jump. 3 Aggies secured top 10 finishes for the high jump. Elizabeth Churchill and Lauren Spellman both recorded season bests and claimed the 2nd and 5th place positions with heights of 1.68 meters and 1.63 meters respectively. Sierra Meier rounded off the day with an 8th place finish in the high jump at 1.58 meters. Kylee Davis showcased her talent in the long jump, reaching 5.82 meters and taking home 3rd place.Â
In pole vault, Sydney McCann and Sarah Graessley both reached heights of 3.60 meters and claimed 5th and 7th place respectively.
Day 2 Highlights:
Maddie Kackley led the charge for the Aggies in the mile race, clinching the top spot with a time of 4:52.30, while Chloe Arriaga secured 10th place with a season's best time of 5:03.04.Â
The Aggies nearly swept the top 5 for the 3000 meter race. Brianna Weidler continued her dominance on the track, setting a personal record of 9:21.00 and securing another first-place finish. Maddie Kackley followed closely behind, finishing 2nd at 9:40.83. Hope Bergmark came in 4th position with a time of 9:46.49 and Sierra Atkins crossed the finish line soon after to claim 5th place with a time of 9:49.04.Â
Maya Shinnick impressed in the 400m, securing an 8th place finish with 56.84. Oriana Jalal delivered a season's best performance in the 800m with 2:16.81, claiming 10th place.
In the triple jump, Kerrington Smith soared to a distance of 11.88 meters, securing 2nd place. Amanda Shaw took 7th place with 11.80 meters and Aiza Sarwar posted a season best of 11.24 meters and earned 12th place.Â
The 4x400 meter relay team comprising of Cierra Kinsey, Alexys Ford, Janae Oneal, and Maya Shinnick displayed their teamwork and speed, finishing in 3rd place and with a season's best time of 3:46.66.Â
The UC Davis Aggies finished 3rd at the MPSF Championship with , showcasing their depth, talent, and determination. With numerous top finishes and personal bests, the team proved their mettle on the track and in the field events, setting the stage for the upcoming NCAA Championships in Boston, MA on March 8th and 9th.Â
