The UC Davis indoor track and field team competed in two meets over the weekend: the Husky Classic in Seattle, WA and the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, NM. The team ended the weekend with a new school record, a national ranking, several PRs, and a handful of top ranking finishes.
SEATTLE, WA – Husky Classic Highlights:
Brianna Weidler left her mark on the meet and in the record books. With an outstanding time of 15.38.77, Brianna Weidler achieved a PR and set a new school record. She smashed her previous school record of 15:56.99 that she set in December 2023. Her outstanding performance earned her 7th place at the Husky Classic and ranked her 21st in the nation.
The Husky classic saw other stellar performances. Stormy Wallace showcased her talent in the 3k, marking her first appearance in this event with a time of 10:05.08.
Madison Kackley displayed her speed and endurance in the mile, securing a new personal record with a time of 4:46.55.
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Don Kirby Invitational Highlights:
Jayme Hendrickson and Amanda Shaw soared to new personal records in the long jump, recording marks of 5.40 meters and 5.34 meters respectively.
In the high jump event, Elizabeth Churchill notched 1.66 meters and secured a tie for 6th place. Meanwhile, Cierra Kinsey blazed through the 400m, setting a new personal record with a time of 57.14 seconds.
Madison Thomas earned an indoor personal best in the 200m, clocking in at 25.84 seconds. The women's 4x400m relay team, composed of Cierra Kinsey, Alexys Ford, Janae Oneal, and Maya Shinnick crossed the finish line in 3:47.76, earning 12th place.
Adding to the team's achievements, Ashpreet Kler secured an 11th place finish with 17.89 meters in the weight throw.
With the conclusion of this double header weekend, the Aggies will have 2 weeks before the MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships in Spokane, WA.
