Aggies Finish Season at NCAA West Regionals, Barrett Drafted Into All-Region Team

Women's Team Finish: Eleventh Overall
Men's Team Finish: Twelfth Overall
Location: Colfax, Washington

The Short Story: The cross country season came to a close in Colfax today, and the team delivered outstanding performances; clinching respective 11th and 12th overall places after going head-to-head with over 200 of the best runners in the region.

HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN): The men's group ran their longest race of the season, covering a 10k distance. In the perspective of mileage, they added on an extra 1.24 miles to their usual race. Despite this added challenge, as a team they came in 12th out of 32 entered teams.

Junior Muhammed Ahmed headlined the Aggie men, coming in 46th with a 30:02.0 to be the first Davis runner to cross the finish line.

Fellow junior Ethan Brooks followed suit in 71st, the second Aggie to finish the long stretch. Chris Coles, Michael Cooper, and Nick Herrmann also broke the top 90 spots, totaling five of the seven competing Aggies to finish within the double digits.

HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN): The Ags worked together to finish 11th out of forty competing teams in the 6k race and their strides remained unwavering.

Senior Dani Barrett had a stellar performance, starting the race in 26th place. By the halfway mark, she climbed her way up to eighth. Barrett crossed the finish line as 18th in the region, with an exceptional time of 19:55, matching pace with her career-best time.

This performance also secured Barrett's spot in the All-Region team, saved for the top 25 runners in the region. This is her second West All-Region accolade of her career following her 2023 achievement. As an extra layer of sweet success, she was also the first female athlete in the Big West Conference to finish the race on the regional stage.

Coming in hot in 36th place is senior Maddie Kackley, keeping it strong and steady to come in with a time of 20:30.5 to end the race.

Hope Bergmark came in at 88th the third Aggie over the line, staying within the top ninety finishers. Out of 262 runners that finished the tough battle on foot, all our competing Aggie women finished within the top 150 as well.
