Cross Country Heads South For Riverside Invitational

DAVIS, Calif. — Following a strong opening meet in San Francisco, UC Davis cross country travels to Southern California this weekend to compete in the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19. The women's 6000m race is set to kick off at 7:15 a.m. PT, followed by the men's 8000m race at 7:50 a.m. PT.

The weekend's race will feature a massive field from across the region, bringing together 18 NCAA Division I programs alongside 25 additional four-year institutions and 10 junior college squads at the Ag/Ops Cross Country Course.

The Aggies return to action after opening the 2026 season at the USF Invitational on Sept. 4, where the women secured a seventh-place team finish and the men took eighth overall. Sophomore Peyton Adams led the charge for the Aggie women, making a steady mid-race move to set a new PR, crossing the line in 20th place with a time of 21:26.6, closely followed by Kirra Fisk in 25th (21:30.2). On the men's side, freshman Dominic McMahon paced UC Davis in his collegiate debut, surging up 27 spots over the 8k course to finish 25th overall with a time of 24:54.0.

On the course, the women's side brings back 17 strong returners to lead the team this fall, including Peyton Adams (So.), Hannah Aguirre (So.), Miriam Aguirre (So.), Kiah Aitken (Jr.), Emily Allison (Jr.), Brooke Butler (Sr.), Phoebe Drazsnzak (So.), Grace Dunham (Jr.), Kirra Fisk (Jr.), Cassidy Kajita (Jr.), Tauren Mitchell (Jr.), Jocelyn Pacheco (Sr.), Kayla Towne (Jr.), Gracie Trenam (Jr.), Angelina Valladeres (Jr.), Lauren Villegas (Jr.), and Stormy Wallace (Gr.).

The men's roster features a balance of established experience and incoming talent. Upperclassmen Tanner Gray (Jr.) and Caden Hicks (Jr.)  lead the distance group alongside track & field veteran Christian Taylor (Sr.), guiding an incoming freshman class that includes Grant Breger (Fr.), Wesley Ewing (Fr.), Chase Joanou (Fr.), Linus Martin (Fr.), Dominic McMahon (Fr.), Austin Petrik (Fr.), and Desmond Vaughs (Fr.).
