Danielle (Dee) Davis Joins Volleyball Coaching Staff

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis volleyball announces the addition of Danielle (Dee) Davis to the coaching staff.

Well-known and well-respected in the volleyball coaching sphere, Davis reunites with Dan Conners after she played under him when he was the top assistant at the University of Illinois.

"Dee is the perfect addition to our staff at this moment in time," Conners said. "I believe her experience in coaching and running her own business will mesh perfectly for her to assist in our team's evolution this season. UC Davis volleyball is ready for Dee to get in the gym with us and I feel that her decision to join our team couldn't have come at a better time. We are all fired up to collaborate with her."

A four-year starter for the Fighting Illini and a three-time Big Ten All-Academic Team selection, Davis has since enjoyed an excellent coaching career while holding many different positions within athletics.

Davis' most recent endeavor was the creation of her own business, Davis Empowerment LLC, which provides mental performance coaching for Division I women's volleyball programs and individual athletes.

She spent two seasons as the lead assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Davidson College while dedicating her time to the Dallas Arsenal Volleyball Club as the Director of Recruitment, Athlete Empowerment and Sport Performance, helping high school athletes navigate the college recruiting process.

Prior to her stint at Davidson, Davis held volunteer assistant coaching positions at Stanford (2020), Santa Clara (2019), and Ohio (2018).

"I am extremely honored and excited to be a part of the UC Davis volleyball program," Davis said. "Dan was an invaluable mentor and coach to me at the University of Illinois. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop personally and professionally under his leadership as well as the entire UC Davis staff. They champion a safe space for each person to come into their authentic selves while unleashing their unlimited potential. The diversity in personalities alongside their exceptional experience and knowledge creates an environment I am eager to be a part of."

Davis, a 2016 graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, also earned a Masters of Sport Administration and Business Administration in 2019 from Ohio University.
