Aggies Shine at Ralph Lindeman Invitational with First-Place Finish in Triple Jump and Multiple PRs

 

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The UC Davis Aggies demonstrated a remarkable display of excellence at the Ralph Lindeman Invitational hosted at the USAF Academy over the weekend. The two-day meet showcased the Aggies' talent as they set new school records, achieved personal bests, and made a lasting impact on the indoor track.

Day 1 Highlights:

In the weight throw event, Ashpreet Kler secured second place and set a new school record with an outstanding distance of 18.84 meters. Hailey Hernandez also made her mark with a personal record of 17.25 meters, earning her 4th place over the weekend. The long jump witnessed Kylee Davis reaching new heights, establishing a new indoor school record with a jump of 6.03 meters, securing second place. Aiza Sarwar also stood out with a personal best of 4.74 meters.

Several Aggies achieved personal bests on day 1. In the 60-meter hurdles event, Jayme Hendrickson showcased her agility and speed, achieving a personal best time of 9.59 seconds. Lauren Medley impressed in the 400m, clocking a time of 58.51 seconds, a personal best for her. Maya Shinnick showcased her speed in the 60m sprint, earning a personal best with a time of 7.89 seconds. 

As the day concluded, the preliminary qualifiers for Day 2 were announced, featuring notable names like Alexys Ford, Cierra Kinsey, and Lauren Medley in the 400m, and Maya Shinnick and Janae Oneal in the 200m, and Maya Shinnick in the 60m.

Day 2 Highlights:

In the 400m finals, Alexys Ford secured a 4th place finish, and Cierra Kinsey finished in the 6th position. Maya Shinnick continued her stellar performance in the 60m finals, securing the 5th position. The High Jump event saw several Aggies on the board, with Lauren Spellman and Elizabeth Churchill tying for 5th place, Jayme Hendrickson finishing 7th, and Sierra Meier securing the 8th position.

Janae Oneal delivered an outstanding performance in the 200m, achieving a personal record of 25.78 and securing 2nd place in the finals. In the Triple Jump event, Kerrington Smith claimed the top spot with an indoor personal record of 12.17, ranking 3rd on the Indoor List. Rachel Fruchtmann, Amanda Shaw, Chiara Fantin, and Aiza Sarwar showcased their talents, finishing 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th respectively.
