AGGIES HELD SCORELESS AT HOME
UC Davis created plenty of scoring chances on Sunday afternoon at Aggie Soccer Field but just couldn't find the back of the net as Pacific nicked the 1-0 win, handing the Aggies their second straight home defeat.

Pacific's lone shot on target proved to be the winner in a game where UC Davis dominated the run of play, totaling 18 shots to the Tigers' eight. Brian Lanier delivered an outstanding performance between the posts for the visitors, making seven crucial stops to hold the Aggies scoreless.

SERIES NOTES
UC Davis holds a 4-2-2 advantage in the all-time series with San Francisco. The Aggies have won three of the last four matchups, including back-to-back wins in 2017 and 2021. In the last meeting, UC Davis comfortably handled the Dons with a 4-1 victory at Aggie Soccer Field. San Francisco has been a force on home ground as the Aggies have yet to win (0-2-2) on the Hilltop.

Another WCC opponent will make its way to Davis as Saint Mary's looks to continue its solid start to the 2023 season. The all-time series is even at 6-6-2 but the Gaels came out victorious in last year's contest in Moraga, grabbing a 3-1 win. The last time the two teams met in Davis, the Aggies kept a clean sheet on their way to a 3-0 win.

ABOUT THE DONS
San Francisco has enjoyed an excellent start to their 2023 campaign and are coming off an impressive 3-0 result against Cal on Sunday night. The Dons come into Thursday's contest with a 4-1-1 record with their only defeat coming at the hands of Cal State Bakersfield last Thursday. Redshirt junior Gabriel Bracken Serra has already netted four goals this season to lead his team. The Dons have been solid defensively, conceding just four goals in their six matches.

ABOUT THE GAELS
St. Mary's will be competing in just their third away match of the season when it makes its way to Davis on Sunday afternoon. The Gaels have been good on home soil with a 3-1-1 record in Moraga and battled to a scoreless draw with UC Irvine in their lone road match. St. Mary's has outscored its opponents 11-5 on the year with Riley Lynch and Tyler Hardin leading the way with three goals apiece.

NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Charles Janssen was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week following his incredible goalkeeping display during the opening weekend. Against Ohio State, he was likely the man of the match after his sparkling display between the posts. His six saves were vital in the effort to maintain the lead, flashing a couple tremendous saves in the closing minutes to keep the hosts at bay. The redshirt junior also unbelievably provided an assist for the game-winning goal, launching a beautiful goal kick to spark an attack.

LEADING FROM THE FRONT
UC Davis' leading goal-scorer from a year ago, Ethan Hoard, has been named to the 2023 Big West Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' team, announced Thursday by league officials.

The 2022 All-Big West Honorable Mention impressed in his debut season with the Aggies after transferring in from Green Bay. Hoard netted three goals, a team-high, while creating two assists during the campaign. He also matched a team-best eight points while leading the team in shots (39) and shots on target (18). The Racine, Wisc. native started 16 of 18 matches last season and provided some exciting moments, including his winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Causeway rivals Sacramento State
