Davis, Calif. — The UC Davis men's basketball program has added another transfer to its 2023-24 team with the signing of Drew Carter from the University of Colorado Boulder, UC Davis men's basketball head coach Jim Les announced today (July 7).
As a prep player, Carter was one of the top basketball prospects in the class of 2021, ranking as Oregon's No. 4 player in the state by ESPN. A high-profile basketball recruit throughout his entire prep days, Future150 ranked him as the nation's No. 33 prospect and No. 2 combo guard back in 2016.
Carter averaged 25.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assist per game as a junior playing for his high school Tigard when he was the league's Player of the Year and earned first-team All-State honors. These numbers would translate even further to more accolades on the court, as Carter was a McDonald's All American West Region Nominee in 2021 as well. Carter played his AAU ball for nationally ranked Seattle Rotary.
Most recently, Carter was a scholarship athlete on the football team at Colorado where he served as a quarterback during the fall, while also being on the roster for the men's basketball program after the conclusion of the football season prior to the start of spring football.
As a member of the football team, Carter saw action at quarterback in nine games across two seasons.
The addition of Carter to the Aggies most recent signing class which includes Pablo Tamba, and Marsalis Roberson figures to bolster a squad that features two returning All-Big West players in Elijah Pepper, and Ty Johnson.
