Davis, Calif. — After earning their first series win of the season at Seattle University, the UC Davis Baseball Team will take action in their first mid-week game of the season. With some evaluating of the landscape at Phil Swimley Field, the Aggies, in cooperation with Sacramento State, have decided to move the game to Sacramento State due to unplayable conditions in Davis. First pitch against the Hornets is set for 4 PM at John Smith Field.
AGGIE BASEBALL
Earning the first series victory of the year, it is just the second series victory for second year head coach Tommy Nicholson. This is the first time the Aggies (5-4) have had a win percentage above .500 since the shortened 2020 season in which the Aggies were 9-7 to start the year. Battling some injuries, and relying on youth in Seattle, the Aggies once again saw strong performances from the likes of Bryan Green, Joey Wright, Alex Gouveia and Nick Leehey.
Gouveia continues to lead the team in hitting while sophomore standout Mark Wolbert trails right behind him with a team-tying high, 9 RBI. With the injuries early, the Aggies have seen their young guys get experience right away with Braydon Wooldridge, Leighton Helfrick, and Ethan Kang all finding time in the outfield. While inexperience is usually characterized by age, the Aggies have seen a first-year pitcher turn into a reliable arm out of the bullpen. Seeing starts at third base this season, and relied upon to close games as well, Kaden Hogan leads the Aggies with two saves and has become a Swiss-Army Knife utility player, showing off his athleticism all over the diamond.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
The Hornets are led by Reggie Christiansen who is in his 12th year at the helm for Sacramento State. Opening up the season with three straight wins, the Hornets enter Tuesday's game with a record of 6-4 after suffering three straight defeats at the Southern California College Baseball Classic. Powering the offense for the Hornets is Wehiwa Aloy, and Josh Rolling. Aloy has a team high 11 RBI with a .390 batting average while Rolling is hitting .316 with half of his base-hits being for extra bases. On the mound, the Hornets are a balanced group, and given the midweek contest, UC Davis will likely face a plethora of different looks. When things get close, the Hornets will turn to reliever Jack Zalasky to shut the door as he has registered every save this year for Sac State.
