DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis track & field team opened the outdoor season in impressive fashion as the Aggies claimed 19 event victories in wet and cold conditions at the Aggie Open.

The hammer throw started off the festivities as Brena Videll won the even with a toss of 166-0 (50.60m). Also in the field, Corey Moore won two events as he outdistanced the field in the shot put and discus with marks of 50-8.75 (15.46m) and 160-2 (48.83m), respectively.

Chelsea Daye leaped to victory in the long jump with a mark of 19-2.75 (5.86m), while Nickolaus Santos won the triple jump with a mark of 44-8.75 (13.63m). Ryan Ishibashi won the pole vault with a clearance of 13-11.25 (4.25m), while Caveli Hensley (1.90m) and Jayme Hendrickson (1.66m) both won their high jump competitions.

On the track, Julia Marriott started things off with 17:47.41 to win the 5,000m. Also in the distance races, Ivan Mendez won the 1,500m with a time of 3:55.33. Oriana Jalal won the 800m with a 2:20.36.

The women's 4x100m won the relay with a time of 48.25. Elizabeth Churchill was the top collegiate finisher in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.45. Malik Vega-Tatum won the 110m hurdles with a 15.64. In the 400m hurdles Lauren Medley won with a 1:06.24.

Kian Maher was the top collegiate in the 200m with a 22.65. The Aggies capped off the meet with a victory in the women's 4x400m relay, crossing the line with a time of 3:52.45.

Both squads won the meet as the women scored 219 points and the men outdistanced the competition with 146 points.
