DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis (10-11 6-5 Big West) returns to the friendly confines of the University Credit Union Center for a pair of important Big West Conference tilts. The Aggies will face UC Riverside (5-17, 3-9 Big West) on Thursday night before a talented UC Santa Barbara (15-6, 8-3 Big West) team heads to Davis for a Saturday afternoon matchup.
UC Davis still sits at sixth place in the Big West standings but are just a half-game out of fifth place and hold a comfortable cushion on Cal State Fullerton in the seventh spot. The Highlanders are towards the bottom of the ladder but the Gauchos still have conference title aspirations, just a game outside of first place.

LAST TIME OUT
UC Davis clamped up on the defensive end, holding Hawai'i to just 25% from the field to earn the 57-47 win in Honolulu.
Evanne Turner provided another sparkling performance with a game-high 23 points which garnered Big West Player of the Week honors.
It wasn't the most efficient night for the UC Davis offense but Head Coach
Jennifer Gross was able to draw up some good looks for her team down the stretch.
SERIES HISTORY
This is the 68th all-time meeting between the Aggies and Highlanders, with UC Davis holding a 41-26 advantage in the series. The Aggies boast a 18-9 record at home against UCR. On. Jan 19, UC Davis went down to Riverside and picked up the 60-48 win.
UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara will meet for the 46th time this Saturday, as the Aggies hold the series advantage 26-19. UC Davis has won 11 of its 17 contests at home against the Gauchos. This is the first time the two teams will meet this season.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
UC Riverside comes into this week tied at the bottom of the Big West standings. The Highlanders recently snapped a six-game losing streak with their 66-63 victory over Cal State Fullerton, earning their third conference win. UCR features the second-worst offense in the league (51.5 ppg) but interestingly, carry the fourth-best scoring defense at 60.4 ppg.
UC Santa Barbara will be a much different matchup as the Gauchos sit in third place, just a game behind joint leaders Long Beach State and UC Irvine. UCSB is the top ranked offense in the Big West, posting 68.0 ppg while also shooting at the highest clip in the league (44.0%). The Gauchos are the second-best rebounding team in the conference, averaging 37.0 rpg, just narrowly behind UC Davis at 37.3. Ila Lane leads the Big West in rebounding with 8.8 boards-per-game.
WEEKLY HONORS
Evanne Turner received Big West Player of the Week recognition for the first time in her career following her outstanding 23-point display in UC Davis' win over Hawai'i. She scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, including the first nine points of the period, to lead her team to victory.
She grabbed a career-high seven rebounds while dishing out four assists in her seventh game with 20 or more points this season, as her efforts helped the Aggies to their fourth win in their last five games.
This weekly honor is a career first for the 2022 All-Big West Honorable Mention, who currently leads the conference in scoring (15.9 PPG) and three-point shooting with 39 triples and 2.9 three-pointers-per-game.
DOMINANT AT HOME
Since the 2016-17 season, the Aggies are 56-13 inside the University Credit Union Center. In Big West action, UC Davis is 34-6 at home with three of those defeats coming during the 2022-23 season.
TURNER MAKES HISTORY
Evanne Turner became the 22nd Aggie in UC Davis women's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points following her excellent offensive display on Jan. 19. The Fontana native notched a game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting with four three-pointers.
THE THREE-POINT QUEEN
By knocking down her 196th career three-pointer on Jan. 16 against UC San Diego,
Evanne Turner broke the UC Davis program record for three-point field goals. Lori Hurlburt held the previous record, making 194 from 1997-2001. Turner currently leads the Big West in three-pointers made (45) and three-pointers-per-game (2.8). She is 27th in the nation for three-pointers-per game and ranks 33rd nationally for total threes.
