Four Women’s Basketball Players Given CSC Academic All-District Honors

DAVIS, Calif.  — Ryann Bennett, Avery Sussex, Tegan Young, and Megan Norris represented UC Davis women's basketball on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, Mar. 24. Norris was also selected as an Academic All-American finalist.

To be honored as Academic All-District selections, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and be at least sophomores both academically and athletically. Nominated student-athletes must also compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.

Already named a Big West Second-Teamer this season, Bennett continues to add the accolades after leading the team with 15.3 points per game.

Throughout the season, Bennett posted a number of career-highs across multiple statistical categories, going for 21 points in the first two contests of the season to earn her the conference's first Player of the Week honor on Nov. 10. Against Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 15, she became the first Aggie in five years to post 10 assists in a single game for her first career double-double.

Taking a huge leap across multiple categories in her sophomore year, Sussex has emerged as one of the best three point shooters in the Big West, shooting at a 34.7% clip throughout the season.

Her biggest moments came in the Big West Tournament, where she led her team with 50 total points across two postseason contests, including a career-high 27 points against UC San Diego in the Big West Semifinals. For her efforts, Sussex was awarded a spot on the Big West All-Tournament Team.

Playing in her first season with the Aggies after transferring from Manhattan University, Young has been a consistent contributor to the team in 2026, starting in all but one game while ranking second in rebounds and third in blocks.

In an early season contest against Idaho, she made an immediate impact with a season-high 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the team over the Vandals.

Capping off her Aggie career with her third straight All-District honor, Norris finishes her time at UC Davis as the leader in every major rebounding statistic, including the single-game, single-season, and career records for rebounds.

Defensively, her 45 blocks rank her second in the Big West, while her 144 career blocks place her fifth on the Aggie all-time list.

Her offensive and defensive capabilities led Norris to be honored as one of the best in the Big West, being named to the All-Big West First Team and All-Defensive Team.

Following a 29 rebound performance against UC San Diego that set the single-game record for the Aggies, Norris garnered national attention with a U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Player of the Week award on Feb. 17. She was also named Big West Player of the Week twice.
