UC Davis earned its first win of the 2023 season in a thrilling 13-12 victory over Lindenwood on Feb. 25.
It was a back-and-forth affair in the Midwest but UC Davis did just enough to hold off hosts Lindenwood with a strong defensive stand in the fourth quarter. Despite struggling on the draw, the Aggies were clinical with their chances on the attack, scoring 13 goals from 29 shots, with 26 of those efforts on target. UC Davis was able to earn eight free-position shots in the contest while holding the Lions to just one.
Alannah Scott and
Rhea Cosand paced the Aggies offensively, as each player recorded a hat trick in the win.
Ella Brislin turned in another solid performance with a goal and assist on the day while
Regan Arkless matched her, also tallying a couple points.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN FLASHES
Kent State posted a 6-12 overall record in 2022 but have started well in its most recent campaign, winning two of its first three contests. After falling to Cincinnati in the season opener, the Golden Flashes took down Duquesne and Butler to improve to 2-1 on the young season.
The dynamic duo of Kenzie Sklar and Jackie Wolford have already reached double-digit goal tallies just three games into the season. Sklar leads the team with 12 goals while Wolford sits just one behind at 11.
Kent State have rotated heavily at the goalkeeper position, but Madison Flannigan has started two of the three games, making 21 saves in three total appearances. She has earned all three decisions thus far.

This is the first-ever meeting between UC Davis and Kent State.

Sierra Lizerbram anchored a strong Aggie defense in the team's win over Lindenwood, coming up with two caused turnovers and a groundball. She leads UC Davis with five caused turnovers this season.
WELCOME TO THE PAC
UC Davis has accepted an invitation to join Pac-12 women's lacrosse as an affiliate member no later than the 2023-24 season.
San Diego State will also join the Aggies as affiliate members following a recommendation by the Pac-12 Council and approval by the Pac-12 Board of Directors at a recent meeting. UC Davis played without a conference in 2022 after the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation dropped lacrosse as a sponsored sport following the 2021 season. The Aggies faced five Pac-12 opponents in 2022, posting wins over Cal and Oregon while also going 1-1 against San Diego State.
