BOSTON, Mass. – Fresh off the first Division I All-American honor in UC Davis women's cross country history,
Brianna Weidler toed the line in one of the first indoor meets in the country and shattered the school record in the 5,000m.
Held at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, Weidler clocked a 15:56.99 in the 5,000m at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday. The time breaks the record held by teammate
Sierra Atkins, who ran 16:13.32 at the MPSF Championship last season.
Atkins joined Weidler in the meet, eclipsing the record time with a 15:59.27. The duo are now 1-2 in the indoor record book and came off a 1-2 finish at the Big West Conference Cross Country Championships.
The indoor season for the team will begin on January 19 at the Ralph Linderman Invitational in Colorado Springs.
