Aggies Clinch Spot in Inaugural Big West Conference Tournament

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis clinched in a spot in the inaugural Big West Conference Tournament with today's four-set win over CSUN on Wednesday night inside the University Credit Union Center.

The Aggies have won back-to-back matches, improving to 13-12 overall (8-7 Big West) and close the six-game home stand with a pair of victories. The Matadors fall to 5-21 (3-12 Big West) and drop their fourth straight contest.

"It's exciting to be a part of the first Big West Tournament," said Head Coach Dan Conners. "I'm happy for the team and the players, it's good that they'll get to experience that. We're playing some pretty good volleyball and I'm excited to see what we can do down the stretch."

It was the most efficient night of the season for UC Davis, hitting a season-best .385 with just eight attack errors. The defense was astounding as well, holding CSUN to just .158.

Amara Aimufua highlighted her excellent run of form with her best game of the season, racking up a season-high 15 kills at an incredible .609 clip as the outside hitter was in rhythm all game long.

Jade Light enjoyed another brilliant performance with her 14 kills at a hitting percentage of .419. The Sloughhouse native was also quite solid on the defensive end, posting four digs and three blocks.

Olivia Utterback managed to get to double-digits for the third straight game, tallying 10 kills while snuffing out eight digs.

Eclipsing the 30-assist mark for the second time in the last three games was Mia Starr while Julia Ng registered 18 digs from the libero position.

"It's really exciting to be a part of the conference tournament," Aimufua said. "Now we're in the mindset focusing on each game and each point while focusing on ourselves."
